One day a young woman carrying a baby was getting on a bus. When she got on the bus ,she found that the bus was very crowded. She could not find a vacant seat . She had to carry her baby standing beside an old lady and a young man who was reading newspapers. She thought that somebody would get off at the next stop , then she could get a seat for her baby. At this moment , the old lady stood up and said to the young woman:”Please take my seat!” Then she took the old lady’s seat with her baby .The old lady had to stand up holding the back of the seat chair, but the young man still kept silent and pretended to read the newspapers.Top

A man runs a clothes shop,but the business is not good. There are not many people visiting his shop. One day he wanted to sell a lady’s coat which was worth 50 yuan ,but nobody liked it , because they thought cheap things might not be good enough. The man got more worried . Suddenly he came up with a strange idea.He took off the 50 yuan price tag from the coat ,and then put on a new price tag which said 500 yuan instead!So it made this coat the most expensive one in the shop . Once upon a time a man who lived in the state of Chu was crossing a river by boat . Suddenly his sword fell into the water because of his carelessness. He tried to catch it but couldn’t .So he took out a knife and carved a mark on the edge of the boat and said to himself, “It’s from here that my sword fell into the water.“
When the boat arrived at the bank ,he jumped into the river from the place where he carved the mark to look for his sword . After a short while he came out of water with nothing . The people around him laughed at him . The man was not clever because he did not know his sword remaind the place but the boat moved.

There is a sign on the door which says SNAKE INSIDE. It tells people there is a snake in the room and people will be careful on seeing the sign. One night a thief came to the door. He laughed when he saw the sign .”I don’t believe there is a snake in the room ,”said he .He wanted to break the door open and steal something from there .So he knocked hard on the door with a big stone. After a while the door was knocked open .He went into the room . He really saw a big snake there. The big snake began o attack him as soon as it saw him . The thief was so frightened that he shouted , ”Help ! Help! ” His shouting woke up the people nearby and they called the police . After a few minutes the police arrived and took the thief away .Top

With the improvement of Chinese people’s living standard ,their diet has been changed gradually in the past five years . From the chart ,we found that grain ,the main food for most Chinese ,is now playing a less important role in their diet ,while the high-energy food like milk and meat has increased.
I think there are two main reasons for these changes . First , the Chinese prople now have enough money to buy meat and milk . Second ,they have begun to pay more attention to their diet. They are seeking the most reasonable diet structure, which will be good to their health.
I am sure that in the future the changes will continue because more and more Chinese have realized that keeping a healthy diet is very important to health.

The ways people spent their holidays have changed greatly in the past five years . In 1997, 35% of people spent their holidays at home .The number dropped greatly to 10% last year. It seems that people now have much more money to enjoy the outside world than before .
The table shows that the number of people spending their holiday traveling abroad has also increased. Compared with 15% in the year 1997,the rate in 2001 raised to 25%. Because prople now have much more money than before , they can afford to travel abroad, and the rate may continue to rise in the near future.
From the table we also know that the number of people going to the seaside remained nearly the same ,while the nubmber of prople who go camping has risen from 10% in 1997 to 30% in 2001 . The reason may be that people become tired of the city lift. They want to be close to the nature.

You can go straight along Guangming Road ,and turn right at the second turning . Then you’ll find the hospital on your left . When you come out of the hospital ,turn left again and walk to Heping Road .You can see the library at the left corner. When you come out from the library ,turn left and then walk along Heping Road . You’ll find the post office on the left side .It is not very far away from the library . After you send your letter there ,walk along the road again till you get to the end of the road .There you can see Songshan park . You won’t miss it .

Today pollution has become a serious intermantional problem . Our air ,seas ,rivers and land have been polluted by waste or poisonous things .Pollution does great harm not only to beings but also to animals and plants . We can’t have fresh air because many factories have pumped their waste water into rivers ,lakes and seas . It is said that strange diseases have appeared in some places because of pollution . I think the government can do something to stop pollution . For instance , it can reduce the production of cars and encourage to produce environment –friendly cars . The waste and waste water from factories must be treated properly before they are sent out . In this way , we can improve our environment and live a healthier and happier life .

As everybody knows that the traffic problems in our city become more and more serious . During the rush hours every morning and afternoon , the roads are very crowded . There are jams almost on every main road . The accident rate becomes higher than before . I think that it is high time for the city government to take some measures to solve this problem .
First of all ,we should repair the roads , for some of the roads are in bad condition and it is difficult for the drives to go through . Secondly , we should build more overpassesso as to cut down traffic jams . Thirdly , the production of cars should be controlled , for there are too many cars moving on the roads every day . As long as we do something like this , the traffic problem will be solved or at least the accident rate will be lowered . I do hope our government will accept my suggestions .

Trees are home to birds . They build their nests in the trees . They sing , dance and play in the trees . They live there happily , freely and peacefully . But unfortunately the people cut down the trees for wood and they use the wood to build their houses , They live in their new houses happily . But they don’t know when they cut down trees and build their houses , they destroy the birds’ houses and make them homeless. It is unfair to the birds . Look , one little bird comes back to find her home , but she can not , because she finds no trees at all but tree stumps . The little bird is sitting on one of the stumps and looks very sad . “Where is my home ?” She cries sadly . I feel very sorry for the homeless bird .Top

Las Sunday afternoon my friends and I were walking in Zhongshan Park when we suddenly heard someone calling for help . A girl fell into the lake and she was in danger . One of my friends and I jumped into the lake and swam towards the girl . When she was pulled out of it , she had stopped breathing . I had learned some knowledge about first aid at school . So II tried to start her breath by using the mouth-to –mouth way . My friend phoned the First Aid Centre . Within ten minutes the girl began to breathe again and the doctors from the First Aid Centre arrived . The girl was saved. They all said that what I did was right .Top
