Hi,
Let me introduce myself! I am Janakiram MSV and I work as a Program Manager – Evangelism with the JScript product team at Hyderabad India Development Center. I own the community interaction and the customer engagement. Let me share what my team is responsible for:
· Native JScript – We own the JScript language implementation and the scripting engine that ships as a part of IE. We are working on the next version of the implementation that ships with the future versions of IE. We are optimizing the engine to bring in a lot more power to client side scripting. You will hear more about this soon.
· Developer Tools Support – Visual Studio 2008 has brought the power of IntelliSense to client side scripting. Web developers can now use Visual Studio for debugging client side scripts. The authoring team at the JScript product unit shipped JavaScript IntelliSense and JavaScript syntax checking capabilities of Visual Studio 2008.
· Managed JScript – Managed JScript is an implementation of JScript for the Dynamic Language Runtime, it is part of Microsoft's dynamic languages for .NET along with IronRuby, IronPython, and Dynamic Visual Basic. Unlike JScript .NET which is less dynamic than the original JScript but provides CLS compatibility, Managed JScript is designed on top of the DLR and provides the features needed for scripting scenarios. With Silverlight 2, web designers and web developers can leverage their existing JavaScript skill set to target rich user experience.
· JScript.NET – JScript.NET is an implementation targeting the .NET platform. It is one of the first languages to be made available on the CLR. Being a CLS compliant language, it can be used to target a variety of scenarios supported by the .NET platform.
One of my charters is to enable an open dialog between the product team and the community. To that end, I am trying to optimize all the channels that we have to reach out to the community. The JScript team has a blog on MSDN and it gained a lot of attention within the JavaScript community. We want to have an ongoing dialogue with the JavaScript community through the blog. To make sure that we are aligned with the community and their expectations, we would like to invite you to participate in a short survey. This would help us immensely in understanding the community needs.
Before you go ahead and participate in the survey, I request you to visit our blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/jscript and spend some time reading the posts. This will ensure that you have the right context around the content and the posts on this blog.
